Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a widespread cause of
chronic liver disease (CLD) and liver-related morbidity and mortality,
and is the most common cause of CLD in North America. This
paper, the first in a two-part series by Dr Mark DeLegge of NASH
Focus Group addressing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and nonalcoholic
steatohepatitis, provides an overview of these important
diseases.
