Early Research Efforts Increase in Fight Against Alzheimer’s Epidemic

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) afflicts more than 5 million people in the United States (US), with numbers expected to grow to 7.1 million by the year 2025. Molly Fellin Spence of Thomson Reuters explains the new FDA guidance which aims to respond to recommendations from a joint Alzheimer’s research summit of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and NIH, to assist sponsors in conducting clinical trials in at-risk individuals without symptoms.
