To help family doctors and general practitioners treat their patients most effectively, hypertension specialists who belong to related professional societies co-author guidance documents published by the societies in the medical literature.  Examples include guidelines for the management of arterial hypertension prepared by a task force of experts from the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) and the European Society of Cardiology (ECS), and the recent ESH position paper on the use of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) in both clinical research and clinical practice.  J.
