Bring Your Own Device

BYOD; is it Now or Never?

For a couple of decades now, electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePRO) has been an integral technology solution used to collect data in clinical trials. In the very beginning, patient data was simply captured on paper diaries or recorded in paper-based logs. Now, we find ourselves in the age of ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) – clinical trial patients utilise their own personal mobile device to access an ePRO application and input their own patient-reported outcomes data. Phillip Strickland at ArisGlobal lays out the many benefits and challenges to utilising BYOD in clinical research today.
