The Australian clinical trials landscape has developed considerably
over recent years with over 1000 new clinical trials commencing each
year in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device space.
An estimated 6900 skilled professionals are involved in the conduct
of Australian trials. Growth in the sector has been remarkable,
especially in the medical devices trials area. Suzanne Williams at
Mobius Medical Pty Ltd concludes that Australia plays a substantial
part in global, multi-centre studies, which comprise approximately
one-third of all trials undertaken.
