Gene Therapy Clinical Studies in Oncology-Haematology

Gene therapy is no longer the subject of speculative sciencefiction,
thanks in part to clinical studies involving gene therapy,
which were previously confined to rare genetic disorders of
immunity, but are now growing steadily in many areas and
especially in haematology/oncology. A November 2015 search
of ClinicalTrials.gov reveals over 1100 interventional studies
involving gene therapy. Of the 577 open studies, 335 had a
solid or haematological neoplasia as the target condition.
Daniel Mazzolenis MD, Senior Medical Director, Global
Oncology Hematology at INC Research, submits a white
paper on gene therapy.
